This is always a great event - plan on attending at least one of the goings-on this year, maybe even host your own block party, hmm?

The Hutto Police Department and the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) is once again sponsoring a nationwide crime and drug prevention program on Tuesday, August 5. This will be the 25th Annual National Night Out in which Hutto, for the fifth year, will join forces with thousands of other communities across the country in promoting cooperative, police-community based crime prevention.

National Night Out is an essential component of the Neighbor Watch Program and provides a great opportunity for our community to rally together to fight crime. Through the National Night Out events, Hutto has been able to showcase our community’s pride and spirit while celebrating and coming together. Neighborhood Watch and the citizens of Hutto play a vital role in assisting the Police Department through joint crime and drug prevention/reporting efforts.

National Night Out is held annually on the first Tuesday evening of August. Beginning at 6:00 p.m., representatives from Police, Fire, and City Council members will be moving around the City, visiting each gathering in Hutto in an effort to forge lasting partnership with the citizens they serve. The evening will conclude with everyone being invited to attend the season finale Movies in the Park production, “Transformers” hosted by the Hutto PARD and sponsored by Time Warner Cable. Showtime begins at sundown (about 9:00 p.m.) and will be held at Fritz. This event is free and open to the public.

The Hutto Police Department can help you plan an event for your neighborhood by calling 759-5978. Your support in the Hutto National Night Out program will help strengthen law enforcement through citizen contact and cooperation and will make our community a safer place to live. Please notify the Police Department if you are planning on having a National Night Out block party so they can send police and other personnel to your party.

You can register your block party using this form, the deadline is July 31st.
